A Short Genesis Bryer P-Orridge Primer

How do you go about introducing the life and work of Genesis Bryer P-Orridge to people with little to no prior knowledge?  I’d say you hope that they aren’t squeamish, and you point them to the wikipedia page Mr./Ms. P-Orridge, and hope for the best.  I say that because as much of a brilliant artist as P-Orridge is (I say this with the greatest respect), starting a conversation with terms like “member of pioneering noise/industrial band Throbbing Gristle”, “underwent operations to become gender neutral”, and “founder of a cult” sometimes aren’t the best ways to start things off.

Maybe you could pick them up a revised copy of the above mentioned Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth’s “Thee Psychick Bible” available in limited numbers (999 copies) through Feral House, and try to “convert”.

If none of those options work or seem right to you, maybe just point them in the direction of P-Orridge’s band PTV3 covering The Velvet Underground’s “Foggy Notion” to try and warm their hearts.
