Turkey Made Better Psychedelic Music Than Your Country

I made it a point to collect all ten volumes of the “Love, Peace & Poetry” psychedelic compilations, because each one seemed to get better than the one before it.  But hands down, my favorite was volume 9 from Turkey, which not only introduced me to one of the sickest guitar riffs ever (“Ince Ince Bir Kar Yagar” by Selda), but also the genius of Erkin Koray.

So it was a pretty good way to start the week by reading that sometime in the future, the always spectacular Sublime Frequencies label will release a collection of Koray rarities, B-sides from 45s, and stray compilation cuts (Via Stranger).  When exactly wasn’t specified, but just knowing this is in the works has made my Monday a bit easier.
