Let’s just get this out of the way early: Laurie Anderson is an icon. She’s spent most of her career as one of the most innovative and challenging artists around. Her name belongs alongside William S. Burroughs, Philip Glass, Patti Smith, and Yoko Ono. Plus, the simple fact that 7 out of 10 people will tell you they don’t “get her” makes her icon-material. That’s generally a prerequisite.
That, and she’s had the most fantastic haircut since the early 80s.
What other musicians have such a great mop? Rod Stewart had a great mullet in the 80s, and the dude from Kid N’ Play had something that resembled one of the Twin Towers (RIP). But who else?
Tonight, Ms. Anderson will be opening up the BAM Next Wave Festival with “Delusion.” Described as “a phantasmagoric world made up of short plays, her latest work is activated by brooding, deeply affecting music redolent with Tibetan temple horns and Arabic strings, performed by Anderson on electronically enhanced violin with supporting virtuoso musicians.” Not only will this label-defying artist be on full display, but so will her terrific haircut.
Want to see “Delusion” for free? We’ve got a set of tickets for the person who can tweet the best example of a sweet artist haircut on Twitter using the hashtag, #SweetHaircut.

The winner will be announced Thursday morning.
