Bellatrix Lestrange reads Anne Frank

I’ve always had this issue with the fact that in 85% of the films about World War 2, the Holocaust, etc. that I’ve seen, the Nazis have British accents.  Why couldn’t they just find English speaking Germans to play the parts?  Maybe try and make it a little more believable, and a little less glossy.

On the flipside, I don’t really mind Helena Bonham Carter reading Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl — even though I find the choice in Harry Potter actors to be a bit strange.  Wouldn’t it have been wiser to get somebody who isn’t a Death Eater?  What about one of the nice, old teachers at Hogwarts?

  1. Wow…. way to pigeon hole an amazing actor. You realize she has done more than just the Harry Potter series right? Maybe it would be easier for you to visualize her reading as more of an Ophelia from her portrayal in Hamlet? That is if you are having a hard time differentiating between the actor and the role they play…

  2. How does “The Hot Mess from Fight Club Reads Anne Frank” sound?

I agree she’s an amazing actress, but you’re missing the point of the post. I’d have to imagine that since most people first read Anne Frank’s diary at a young age, that this audiobook might be aimed at younger people, and I don’t think they really care that much about the Shakespeare work she did.

  3. Kids should be more afraid of her character in Sweeny Todd. She put people in pies! And that fits better with the theme of Anne Frank anyways, since the remains were burned in the furnance.
