To celebrate all this talk about events, Vol. 1 has decided to host three free events in a ten day period starting on July 6th. Granted, we planned and announced these events weeks ago, but we figure there is never a bad time to capitalize on a popular discussion.
On July 6th, Vol. 1 Brooklyn along with the Jewish Book Council, and Jewcy are presenting The Greatest Yiddish Literary Party Ever as a celebration of the release of the film Sholem Aleichem: Laughing in the Darkness by Joseph Dorman. Featuring readings in English from the work of Sholem Aleichem by from Joanna Smith Rakoff, Rachel Shukert, Matthue Roth, Laurie Gwen Shapiro, Jeremy Dauber, and Jonathan and Adam Wilson.
This is at Le Poisson Rouge, and you can get more info as well as RSVP at the Facebook invite.
One week later on July 13th at Bookthugnation, we’ve got Adam Novy, Christian TeBordo, Seth Fried, and Katarina Hybenova all reading. Again, you can get more info and RSVP at the Facebook invite.
And finally there is our huge birthday party/benefit for Girls Write Now on July 14th with a big raffle and readers Deb Olin Unferth, Jami Attenberg, Maud Newton, Kio Stark, and Alina Simone. We probably don’t need to tell you this, but the Facebook invite is a great place for more info and to RSVP.

Jason is being very modest and not touting it, but we just wanted to add that he will be sharing his own work at the Franklin Park Reading Series on July 11. We’re really looking forward to this!
