Henry David Thoreau was born on this day in 1817. His Wikipedia page lists him as a “American author, poet, abolitionist, naturalist, tax resister, development critic, surveyor, historian, philosopher, and leading transcendentalist.”  What they fail to mention his influence on today’s best Brooklyn black metal band.
