The title of this post perfectly sums up how The Ettes sound on the recently released single off their album Wicked Will. Just be aware that we aren’t talking about the Holly Golightly of Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
“Teeth” leads me believe that The Ettes are the heirs to the throne currently occupied by Holly Golightly. Her solo work, as well as collaborations with Billy Childish, The Greenhorns, and The White Stripes, has set her Golightly up as the reigning queen of bluesy garage rock, and has seen quite a few imitators. But The Ettes are the closest, most original, and best take on the sound I’ve heard aside from Ms. Golightly.
