I don’t do drugs, but I really like music that sounds like it would be even better to listen to if I decided to pick up a substance to slow things down a bit.
Stuff like 13th Floor Elevators, Spacemen 3, and early Jesus and Mary Chain all comes to mind, along with more current stuff including Wooden Shjips, Crocodiles, and Circle Pit. Most recently I’ve become pretty obsessed with The Band in Heaven, who have a new 7″ out on HoZac, and a new video for the song “High Low.” The song (and other songs I’ve heard by the South Florida band) is obviously heavily influenced by several of the previously mentioned bands, and the lead singer’s style calls to mind A Storm in Heaven-era Verve.
