Nicholas Rombes is a writer who knows his cinema. Last year, at a residency at Necessary Fiction, he gathered together a number of writers to imagine fictional films and fictional treatments of actual movies. This literally cinematic fiction continues in his own work: his forthcoming novel, The Absolution of Roberto Acestes Laing, is about the search for a lost filmmaker in the aftermath of the destruction of a number of rare films.
