Appreciation for Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast
Posted by Jason Diamond I listen to Marc Maron’s WTF podcast religiously. The last time I tried to do anything religiously, I found myself on a plane headed towards Israel with a bunch of Hasids asking if I wanted to make a mitzvah as I attempted not to vomit from the turbulence. I don’t do religion well, but I make sure to download Maron’s weekly podcast as soon as it becomes available. Comedians are (usually) bright people. They are also […]

Prince Rama Bridges the Unknown Gap Between Kurt Vonnegut and Animal Collective
Posted by Jason Diamond Prince Rama, whose new album Shadow Temple, comes out on Animal Collectives Paw Tracks label on Sept. 14th, makes a sound that brings to mind Werner Herzog soundtracks done by Popol Vuh mixed Gang Gang Dance off-kilter beats. I guess the fact that it was recorded in Kurt Vonnegut’s grandson’s cabin also merits some mention. But I’m not sure exactly why. Listen: Prince Rama – “Lightning Fossil“
Quick Link: Michael Ian Black Interview
Posted by Jason Diamond I interviewed Michael Ian Black at Jewcy about screaming at a heckler who made an Obama/Hitler comparison. If the same situation happened, except it was on “Celebrity Poker Showdown”, and Hank Azaria (also a Jew) said Obama was like Hitler, would you tear into him? It would never happen. I mean, I would have to believe a Jewish comedian saying that would be saying it as a comment on people who say stupid shit like that. […]
Weekend Bites: Cemetery Gates, James Ellroy, Franzen, Jewish Writers, and More
The cemetery where e.e. cummings and Eugene O’Neill are buried. (Boston Globe) The Guardian talks about James Ellroy. Jonathan Franzen vs. Richard Stark. You know how people are always saying “there are so many great Jewish writers”? Here is your chance to learn how to be one. Carrie Brownstein stars in a new video by The Thermals. (Brooklyn Vegan) I think this article about Zola Jesus in The Guardian officially means she’s “Blown up”.
