David Lynch and Cinematic Lithography
We don’t want to be presumptuous, but we’d be willing to bet that more than a few of our readers are fans of the films of David Lynch. Similarly, we also suspect that it’s likely that more than a few of you are fond of well-printed objects — lithographs, for instance. Thus, Lynch’s short film IDEM PARIS may well be of interest to some of you. For those seeking the history of this project, Twitchfilm has more details. Follow Vol. 1 Brooklyn […]

Afternoon Bites: Kate Beaton, Blue Velvet, Lysley Tenorio, and more
Jason Rice on Lysley Tenorio’s upcoming collection Monstress: “Tenorio writes with a casual precision that bleeds equal parts emotion and resigned complacency.” If you’d like to invest in Portsmouth’s RiverRun Bookstore, this would be a good time to do so. And at Beyond the Margins, a “Save the Bookstore” day is proposed. (Both links via Michele Filgate.) Bill Wyman revisits Blue Velvet. Kate Beaton sends Nancy Drew to the Salem Witch Trials. Bites: David Lynch’s Birthday, Talking John Cheever, More MFA Discussion, and the Poe Toaster
Happy birthday Federico Fellini, David Lynch (above, obviously) and Leadbelly. Amy McDaniel talks about the pleasures of reading John Cheever over at HTMLGIANT. Josh Spilker weighs in on the writers needing an MFA topic that seems more popular than ever. At least Josh has the good sense to use a Beavis & Butthead image to accompany his thoughts. The Awl asks the question we’re all sort of worrying about before we have to get back to worrying about bigger things: […]

The Desk Set talk about rare book librarians. Yesterday was the 160th anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe’s death. We failed by not […]
