Making Progress: An Interview with James Yeh
In Making Progress, writers talk about their work by way of a project they’re in the middle of finishing. Materials include: scratch paper notes and very rough drafts, abandoned opening sentences and weird internet searches. The point is to get a glimpse into how they put their stories together. The idea is to say, sure, let’s pull back the curtain. I first met James in Seattle some years ago, while attending a reading of his at Pilot Books. I remember […]

Morning Bites: Charlie Sheen Poetry, Jamie Iredell Playlist, Stephen King on JFK, Blade Runner 2 and More
Of course Charlie Sheen put out a book of poetry. Of course he did. Jamie Iredell gives Largehearted Boy a playlist for his latest book, The Book of Freaks. James Yeh takes a look at some of his favorite highlights from Open City Magazine. Stephen King’s going to write a novel about the JFK assassination. Aldous Huxley’s children’s book is re-published. Blade Runner 2. This sounds like a really awful idea.
Win Some James Yeh!
We really like Mr. Yeh. He’s a pal of ours, and we want to give away a copy of his chapbook, 9/16/10, out on Swill Children. Deb Olin Unferth said of Yeh that his “quiet meditation on death will sneak in and throw up a window in your soul with its intensity.” You want it? RT this on Twitter: “Hey @Vol1Brooklyn, I Love James Yeh” and we will pick a winner at random.
James Yeh puts out chapbook, gets some sweet blurbs
Posted by Jason Diamond James Yeh and Swill Children getting together and putting out a chapbook is sort of like Jesus and Santa getting together to collaborate on an art project. This pairing is very welcome to us, and we think buying “9/16/10” is a very smart idea that will make you wildly popular, and also impress people when Mr. Yeh’s no bullshit prose is being talked about by people “in the know.”
