Tuli Kupferberg of The Fugs has passed away. Today sucks. From Tablet: the classic counter-cultural figure who achieved greatest fame for co-founding the satirical band The Fugs, has died at 86. This according to journalist Jon Kalish, who heard the news from a neighbor of Kupferberg’s.

Not only is it for a great cause, as The Fugs are one of New Yorks greatest contributions to the world, but it’s a stellar lineup. “Last year, Fugs co-founder and longtime New York counterculture figure Tuli Kupferberg suffered two debilitating strokes, leaving him blind, housebound, and facing enormous medical expenses.
