Currents, an Interview Series with Brian Alan Ellis (Episode 80: Lindsay Temple)

Lindsay Temple

LINDSAY TEMPLE is a multidisciplinary artist and writer. Her first book, Cornucopia, is available now through Expat Press.

My current favorite thing to read is: really terrible, over-sentimental first drafts of a couple pieces I wrote about six months ago. Keeps me humble.

My current favorite things to watch are: early 2000s comedies. Wet Hot American Summer, Napoleon Dynamite, Hot Rod, Nacho Libre, Mystery Men. I really love Peep Show too. I’d 100% marry Super Hans for better or worse.

My current favorite thing to listen to is: …I’ve had My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy on repeat for a month straight now. It’s sincerely a flawless album.

My current state of mind is: optimistic, playful, cheeky, altered by Delta-9.

My current chemical romance involves: …I’ve been doing a good job rationing myself to only one a week, but I’ve developed a minor dependency on the frozen mochas at Wawa.

My current words of wisdom are: “Don’t start no shit, won’t be no shit.”

My current mode of transportation involves: my 2012 Nissan with a temporarily-busted A/C compressor. I love the breezy night drives, but the high-noon heat in Florida can be unbearable. The accessory I apparently cannot show up to parties without this summer is a sticky layer of sweat.

My current favorite fast food item is: the McDouble with a layer of fresh French fries and a little extra ketchup.

My current workout routine consists of: jogs up the main road of my very quiet neighborhood. Yoga or Pilates in the morning. Spotting old friends and classmates in public and speed-walking away before they notice me.

My current regrettable decision involves: two kegs of Cajun barbecue sauce, an invaluable ondes Martenot stolen from a gin-drinking widow in South Kensington, and a million dollars in Ugandan shillings.

My current hopes and dreams are: complicated and personal, recorded in great detail in my bedside journal.

My current hobbies include: …wouldn’t you like to know…
