Popular Noise’s Fundraiser: From Black Metal to Richard Avedon

Not surprisingly, I’m always up for good writing on culture. So taking a look at the Kickstarter page for Popular Noise, a new magazine with contributions from the likes of Zachary Lipez (and — if the images are any indication — a profile of Turing Machine’s Justin Chearno) offers a lot to like.

Also of note?

The Richard Avedon Foundation allowed us to rifle through their archives to unearth for you some never before seen out-takes that range from the legendary to the downright weird. We’ll take you on a trip to Richard Phillips‘s Chelsea studio to find out what’s on the play list while he’s working and why. Photographer Flora Hanitijo introduces us to some of New York’s most talented and interesting women.

Sounds like a promising beginning.
