Haunted Patterns on the Cover to Scott Nicolay’s “Noctuidae”

Noctuidae

There’s something about patterns that attracts the eye. The cover for Scott Nicolay’s forthcoming novella Noctuidae has them in abundance: a series of squares atop what looks like an old and blurred photo, with a kaleidoscopic take on a sinister-looking moth above it all. It’s a design that exudes a sense of mystery and menace, and has us very curious about the book contained within–the story of a young woman’s encounters with something sinister in an Arizona canyon.
