GRANT WAMACK is the author of Black Gypsies (Broken River, 2022), God’s Leftovers (Bizarro Pulp Press, 2022), and A Lightbulb’s Lament (Bizarro Pulp Press, 2016). He has more than 40 short stories published in places such as Dark Moon Digest, The Best of Surreal Grotesque, and The New Flesh. When he’s not writing, he’s reading tarot cards, practicing Jiu-Jitsu, and smoking weed in LA.
My current favorite thing to read is: Berserk by Kentaro Miura. Such an amazing manga combining elements of dark fantasy and horror. And I just finished We Are Here to Hurt Each Other by Paula D. Ashe. It’s a phenomenal yet disturbing short story collection by a fierce voice reminiscent of Poppy Z. Brite & Clive Barker.
My current favorite things to watch are: MMA fights, Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, UFO footage, Big Foot documentaries, The Backrooms, analog horror… and The Boys Season 3 was pretty badass despite the deviations from the comic book series.
My current favorite thing to listen to is: Steve Lacy’s new album, Mercurial Rights; it’s funky, jazzy, and psychedelic. Then there’s Kevin Gates, the Weeknd (slowed), and The Marias. Oh and then there’s the Agitator Podcast, Huberman Lab, and The Danny Brown Show.
My current state of mind is: get money, finish these books, and ascend to the next level.
My current chemical romance involves: lots of weed, specifically various strains of indica. Pepsi is prolly my worst drinking habit I’m trying to kick though.
My current words of wisdom are: …learn to embrace silence and cut out the inner noise.
My current mode of transportation involves: Lyft, my feet, and the astral plane.
My current favorite fast food item is: Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos
My current workout routine consists of: Jiu-Jitsu a few times a week… mix in some hiking, boxing at the gym, and cardio.
My current regrettable decision involves: no regrets, only lessons.
My current hopes and dreams are: to get a lit agent, film agent, sell lots of books, and raise my vibration dramatically this year.
My current hobbies include: Jiu-Jitsu, boxing, meditation, and spiritual shit. Might put out some music at some point this year.
My current projects include: a bunch of collaborative projects, a few solo books in progress consisting of crime fiction, cyberpunk, horror, etc. I’m back on my bullshit and coming for necks.
